Unscheduled Entity Data

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Entities from built-in data files and from spreadsheet initialization are created either at a specified time or at the start of the simulation.

If the specified time (or calendar time) is later than the simulation end time, the initialization values are retained as unscheduled entities.   If that entity is created by inclusion in another input file or through explicit creation using the Create Action, the unscheduled information is applied at that time.

The best way to clearly indicate unscheduled data is to use a time or a date that is much later that the simulation period (e.g. 1/1/9999).  Slider inputs, sensitivity parameters, and optimization parameters are automatically treated as unscheduled.  This means that you can set a parameter value for an entity that is created during a simulation rather than at the start of the simulation.
